[Bug 358948] New: firefox, emacs and other executables looking for lib in / usr/local/lib when not there!
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=358948 Summary: firefox, emacs and other executables looking for lib in /usr/local/lib when not there! Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: james.leblanc@ltu.se QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Other firefox, emacs and many other executable programs are linked (checked using ldd) for libgdk-x11-2,0.so in /usr/local/lib, when in fact with the openSUSE 10.3 product this library is found in /usr/lib. The quick fix is to place a symbolic link in /usr/local/lib pointing to the library that exist in /usr/lib. HOWEVER, I've google a bit and found that many users are unable tocorrect this problem by themselves. Also, quite bizarre is the fact that this problem only surfaced for me, after I had installed some old libraries from an old rpm file (which had nothing to do with libgdk). I'm guessing there is something happening when ld.conf is executed after installing the rpm ???
