When other applications (e.g. OpenOffice) still prints o.k. but not Firefox, it looks like a problem in Firefox and not in CUPS.

Sounds right. While Firefox doesn't print in landscape out of a sudden but only if it's configured that way. I just want to make sure there is no magic filtering in cups so it would be interesting how the postscript looks like which is leaving Firefox and gets handed over to cups. If that is landscape I'm happy to look for the issue in Firefox but I have no idea how to get that. The print to file is probably not the same?

In both cases it should be generic PostScript without having printer specific stuff in the PostScript, see https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=80448#c18 and the URLs in https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=80448#c25 What can be different are printing option settings, e.g. "lp -o landscape". To get the PostScript which is actually sent to the queue and the printing option settings: 1. Disable printing: cupsdisable 2. Print a well known usual web page like http://en.opensuse.org/Welcome_to_openSUSE.org from Firefox to the queue 3. The print job data file /var/spool/cups/d<job-number-file-number> contains what was actually sent to the queue. 4. The print job control file /var/spool/cups/c<job-number> contains the option settings. Unfortunately this file is binary but cat /var/spool/cups/c<job-number> | tr -c '[:print:]' '.' makes it usually sufficiently readable. 5. Print it: cupsenable 6. It looks very much like another instance of http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-de/2007-12/msg01001.html because the PPD in attachment #206261 contains this line *cupsFilter: "application/vnd.cups-postscript 0 brlpdwrapperHL2030" and "lpoptions -p HL2030 -l" shows "BrMediaType" i.e. it is the driver from Brother. Most likely the reason is inside the driver from Brother and therefore the report is invalid for us.
