[Bug 462694] New: Strange colors (SiS 660)
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=462694 Summary: Strange colors (SiS 660) Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: sndirsch@novell.com ReportedBy: slawek123456789@poczta.onet.pl QAContact: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: --- I had installed openSUSE from 10.0 (KDE 3) to 11.0 (KDE 4.0) and there was no problem with my laptop (Asus A6U, gfx: SiS M661). Recently I have installed openSUSE 11.1 with KDE 4.1 and now I have strange colors on my LCD monitor (olive and blue areas). I have set as usual 1280x800@60 resolution with 24 bit color depth and used builtin SiS 660 graphic driver. There are no problems when I use Vesa driver, but then I can not set 1280x800 resolution. # hwinfo --gfx 28: PCI(AGP) 100.0: 0300 VGA compatible controller (VGA) [Created at pci.318] UDI: /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/pci_1039_6330 Unique ID: VCu0.fpl4aC0w6q6 Parent ID: vSkL.NVv9AfhhZO6 SysFS ID: /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:01.0/0000:01:00.0 SysFS BusID: 0000:01:00.0 Hardware Class: graphics card Model: "Silicon Integrated SiS 660" Vendor: pci 0x1039 "Silicon Integrated Systems Corp." pixels wide. Taskbars of windows have horizontal light olive lines about 10-20 pixels height. Do you know if they move along if the window is moved?
Please note that we do not have SIS hardware with LVDS outputs here, so we need to rely heavily on feedback from testers to have a chance to narrow down the cause of this. Also in such cases we need to rely on the reporter to determine if a possible fix really solves the problem. On the other hand it is not possible to promise that the issue can be fixed at all. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I think it could be good idea to fix this bug in Suse 11.2, so many people won't be supprised during installation.
This is not a bug fix, it's a kludge around unfortunately. Thus it will not make it into 11.2. The bug should be properly fixed. So far I'm not sure if it is a bug in the Xserver or in the driver. The driver changes since 11.0 are not really many, but they involve changes to integrate libpciaccess. Thus it's not possible to run the 11.0 driver on 11.1 or vice versa. To debug this I'd need a lot of help from you. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
