[Bug 227475] New: Selected driver for 88E8001 Gigabit Ethernet Controller (rev 14) is wrong
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=227475 Summary: Selected driver for 88E8001 Gigabit Ethernet Controller (rev 14) is wrong Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: UNIX Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: digulla@hepe.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Hello, For this chip, YaST selects the "sk98lin" driver which doesn't work for me. Question is if YaST select this driver or show currently used driver. I am interesting about files in /etc/sysconfig/network/* and /etc/sysconfig/hardware/* before you change it. Could you reproduce it again and attach that files in tarball? Also attach yast logs ( http://en.opensuse.org/Bugs/YaST ) from installation time, please -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

Somewhere (I believe it was in "yast2 lan" but I can't find it anymore), you can specify the module to load and there, I could choose between "sk98lin" and "skge", so Yast already knows that there are two possible drivers for this chip. Maybe you need to check the chip revision (14) to decide which driver to use? The install log just contain one place where the drivers are mentioned: linux(3432) [YCP] Storage.ycp:5269 GetRootInitrdModules lmod..."sk98lin":$["size":167648, "used":"0"], "sky2":$["size":62344, "used":"0"], Later, I fixed the problem. The tgz which save_y2logs creates contains a lot of information about my system which I'm not ready to share with the world.
OK, I need information from really start of installation (this is not in log files unfortunetly) so if you can reproduce it (without changing or reinstalling your system) and send me a feedback it will behlp me more than log. When you start installation, after initrd starts hwinfo, I would like to see output from "hwinfo --netcard" (output is not same as netcard part of "hwinfo") and "lsmod". I need to see output from this time, not from your running system YaST shows module: - if exists record in hwcfg file - if there is not, hwinfo is used (maybe there is a bug if don't use currently loaded but first one module) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
