[Bug 387566] New: Network Manager will Not Release DHCP assigned Name Servers if a Static Address is chosen after writting DHCP Assigned IP and Name Servers
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=387566 Summary: Network Manager will Not Release DHCP assigned Name Servers if a Static Address is chosen after writting DHCP Assigned IP and Name Servers Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: alpha096@virginbroadband.com.au QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Customer If a PC is using Network Manager is firstly selected to utilise DHCP IP and Name Servers a subsequent change to a static IP work correctly, however it is not possible to release Name Servers from DHCP assignment. 'Write Hostnames to /etc/hosts' check box IS available, however it is impossible to release Name Servers from ALL DHCP allocation. It appears that it is possible to write an IP of Name Servers with each session once opened AND there is/are DHCP services available from Network. If I remove all DHCP services from Network LAN, which is the normal situation for this LAN, NO Name Servers will be allocated and there will be no access to the WAN. Other PC's where Network Manager issued and DHCP has never been configured do not suffer this problem as at no time has any DNS services been configured ever. 1. Image shows static IP allocated. 2. Image shows greyed out NON DHCP changes to Name Servers 3. Images shows that "write to etc/hosts is available, but only works for 1 session after which it becomes blacked out when re-opened and ignored with full re-boot -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
