[Bug 781597] New: Tumbleweed: updating 12.1 Tumbleweed to 12.2 Tumbleweed leads to broken system
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=781597 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=781597#c0 Summary: Tumbleweed: updating 12.1 Tumbleweed to 12.2 Tumbleweed leads to broken system Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.2 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Update Problems AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: cobexer@gmail.com QAContact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:17.0) Gecko/17.0 Firefox/17.0 at least ConsoleKit & NetworkManager were affected (which meant no network and no KDE desktop) the error was something like: /usr/sbin/console-kit-daemon: unresolved symbol g_mutex_lock the problem was fixable with installing libglib-2_0-0 from the openSUSE vendor I'm not sure since when g_mutex_lock is provided from that package this problem was most likely caused by using zypper up instead of zypper dup to update Tumbleweed but it may also point at a packaging problem of libglib/ConsoleKit/NetworkManager (or whatever actually requires g_mutex_lock) libglib-2_0-0 was updated from 2.30.x to 2.32.y and from Tumbleweed vendor to openSUSE one way to prevent other people from having this problem would be to add the updated libglib-2_0-0 and friends to Tumbleweed so that even zypper up's would install the needed version Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. have an openSUSE 12.1 based tumbleweed system 2. use zypper up to avoid "unneccesary" package downgrades and save bandwidth Expected Results: a working openSUSE 12.2+Tumbleweed i know that using zypper dup is a requirement for Tumbleweed, but i still think that this should be something that correct RPM dependencies / a better managed Tumbleweed should have prevented. Severity should probably be Critical: The software crashes -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
