In a openSUSE_13.1 machine I noticed that if I run for hours that utility, system became lack of memory and all the system memory and swap is used by the iftop process.... It is also strange that kernel oomemkiller don't kill iftop.... Sorry: your post in comment #1 overlapped with my question in comment #2. Thanks for the information. I'm trying to test iftop now via a 1GB network connection on 13.1 x86_64 and NFS.
I installed your "upgraded" version, I'm going to do the test... if you don't receive any answer before 6 hours I have to do after 2 weeks as I'm going on holiday from tomorrow...
In that case: happy holidays - and let's hope that the new iftop survives. I leave the Needinfo to you, so you should get a reminder once you are back.
