gvfs is well, strange stuff.
for starters, please install the gphoto RPM, and run:
gphoto2 -L gphoto2 -L
should show the file contents twice...
As regular user I get: libusb couldn't open USB device /dev/bus/usb/001/001: Permission denied. libusb requires write access to USB device nodes. ... many more of these Follwed by: *** Error *** PTP I/O error *** Error *** An error occurred in the io-library ('Unspecified error'): The supplied vendor or product id (0x0,0x0) is not valid. *** Error (-1: 'Unspecified error') *** Followed by information to generate a debug log (attached). As root I only get the error message (same as the user). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

hmm, i had a very similar bugreport with a kodak now which brought a bit more light to me.
does: gvfs-mount -l
show two mounts with different storage_xxxxxxx values?
It sure does:
gvfs-mount -l Volume(0): KODAK EASYSHARE C183 Digital Camera Type: GProxyVolume (GProxyVolumeMonitorGPhoto2) Volume(1): KODAK EASYSHARE C183 Digital Camera Type: GProxyVolume (GProxyVolumeMonitorGPhoto2)
gvfs-mount -li Volume(0): KODAK EASYSHARE C183 Digital Camera Type: GProxyVolume (GProxyVolumeMonitorGPhoto2) ids: unix-device: '/dev/bus/usb/006/004' activation_root=gphoto2://[usb:006,004]/store_00020001 themed icons: [camera-photo] can_mount=1 can_eject=0 should_automount=1 Volume(1): KODAK EASYSHARE C183 Digital Camera Type: GProxyVolume (GProxyVolumeMonitorGPhoto2) ids: unix-device: '/dev/bus/usb/006/004' activation_root=gphoto2://[usb:006,004]/store_00010001 themed icons: [camera-photo] can_mount=1 can_eject=0 should_automount=1
