[Bug 478477] New: Writing with kget (KDE4) on a NAS
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=478477 Summary: Writing with kget (KDE4) on a NAS Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Samba AssignedTo: samba-maintainers@SuSE.de ReportedBy: squan@web.de QAContact: samba-maintainers@SuSE.de Found By: Community User Downloading a file on a mounted NAS results in a unusual disturbingly noisy harddisk access pattern on the target drive. This happens if the writing application is kget (KDE4) and the drive is connected via ethernet and mounted with CIFS. On the other hand writing on this drive is (almost) silent of I change one of the following: 1) If a file is just written with the 'cp' command or 2) if the same drive is connected via USB (2.0) (writing with kget) It sounds unlikely, but somehow the combination of CIFS mount and usage of kget for writing seems to result in a unfavourable access pattern which makes the drives head constantly seeking. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
