[Bug 567027] New: YAST2 Apache Name-based Virtual Host Configuration Directs Requests to One Host Only
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=567027 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=567027#c0 Summary: YAST2 Apache Name-based Virtual Host Configuration Directs Requests to One Host Only Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Final Platform: All OS/Version: openSUSE 11.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: roadiq@gmail.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-GB; rv:1.9.0.15) Gecko/2009102100 SUSE/3.0.15-0.1.2 Firefox/3.0.15 Configuring name-based virtual Apache hosts with YAST2 results in a configuration where only one host is reachable. The reason seems to be a missing NameVirtualHost statement. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. In a clean install of SuSE 11.2 use the Yast HTTP Server Wizard to set up an HTTP Main Host with no virtual hosts. 2. Test the Main Host is working. 3. Now add name-based virtual hosts, e.g. baba and muvi using the following YAST options: - set VirtualHost ID to All addresses (*) - check Determine Request Server by HTTP Headers 4. Don't forget to restart the apache server. Actual Results: All requests to either http://baba or http://muvi will be directed to the DocumentRoot of baba (or whichever host is alphabetically the first in vhosts.d) Expected Results: Requests to baba should be directed to baba's DocumentRoot and request to muvi should be directed to muvi's DocumentRoot. Uncommenting the last line of listen.conf, the NameVirtualHost * statement, and restarting the apache server will result in correct behaviour of the server. Please let me also mention that I found the YAST Change VirtualHost ID dialogue most confusing. Naively one would expect to enter a ServerName here for a name-based configuration and an IP address for an IP-based setup. This is exactly not the case. My understanding now is that one *must* enter one or more IP-addresses for a name-based config and one *must* enter an address OR a name for an IP-based config. The menue does not help you to get that right and the Help text here is of no help.
