[Bug 237578] New: cups and hosts.allow don't seem to play nicely....
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=237578 Summary: cups and hosts.allow don't seem to play nicely.... Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: i586 OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Printing AssignedTo: jsmeix@novell.com ReportedBy: mvdv@spamcop.net QAContact: jsmeix@novell.com Several forum posts suggest I'm not alone, as does the suggested hack/work around I found. CUPS will not open, compalaining about cannot open/find: http://localhost:631 Things seem to work if hosts allow is set to (but this exposes my machine - correct? hence the critical ranking for this bug) cupsd : ALL : ALLOW suse firewall settings seem to have no effect? Are the Suse firewall and hosts.deny, hosts.allow mutually exclusive? If so, perhaps some indication/hint can be provided in the firewall GUI that the settings are likely to have no effect/protection?
