Result: Installationroutine crashes at that point, where most of install is done and configuration of Network-card, Firewall, DSL-Modems and ISDN-Cards ist done. The crash occours while scanning the "not built in" ISDN-card(s). So, the result is the same as my tests with Alpha-1 has shown. Let me say that an OpenSUSE 10.3 in 32-bit and 64-bit runs very well, without this error, on the same Hardware. It was no problem to install and work with the 64-bit version of Alpha-2. I did also installations with absolut standard configuration, means Gnome Desktop and no additional software selection. Installations were done with DHCP and also with a static IP-address. Hope this will help to get rid of this error! The result was: ([]) After a resarch with Google it seems that some guys have seen this problem also. They told me you to do a hwprobe=-isa before the installation kernel boots. A test with an older OpenSuSE 10.2 32-bit on the same Hardware chrashed also the installation. Putting in hwprobe=-isa works fine, means in that case the error has gone and the installation runs to its end. I'll check if this solution will also help for Version 10.3 and Version 11.0-Alpha-2. There are some suggestions in online-forums that this error will especially occur on Nvidia chipsets. Hope it will help! There should also be the crash inside the logs. I did a fresh install with the crash occuring. After that that the system was crashed -you will see a scrambled, blinking green screen- I did a cold reboot. A warm reboot will not work. Then I started the installation again with the kernelparameter "hwprobe=-isa" and finished the installation, without a crash occuring. If I use the hwprobe=-isa the functionality of powersave/s2ram is gone which was my orginally intention to test. After that I copied the Yast Log files to a usb-stick and uploaded them to bugzilla. I seems that he crash occour witn OpenSUSE 10.3-32.bit and 10.2-32bit on the same 64-bit hardware. In all cases you can do the workaround with hwprobe=-isa. But then you have no powersave!
