[Bug 510738] New: After suspend to disk, r8169 network driver switches from 1000MBit/s t0 100MBit/s
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=510738 Summary: After suspend to disk, r8169 network driver switches from 1000MBit/s t0 100MBit/s Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: digulla@hepe.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686 (x86_64); de; rv:1.9.0.10) Gecko/2009042315 Firefox/3.0.10 Since openSUSE 11.0, there is a bug in the r8169 driver. I'm running a gigabit ethernet. The driver works flawless after cold power on. But when I resume after suspend to disk, the network speed drops to 100MBit/s. The r8619 driver doesn't support "ethtool -r" and "ethtool -e eth0 speed 1000" doesn't work, either. The workaround is to remove the module and modprobe it again. It would be great if the network driver would keep its speed after resume from disk. I can confirm all of the above (including the probable kernel bug).
openSUSE 11.1, x86_64, kernel 2.6.27.29-0.1-default
Can you please test this with the Kernel of the Day? 2.6.31 seems to have gotten a bunch of changes for various chip sets. 1) Add the and enable the following URL to your repository list using Yast: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Kernel:/HEAD/openSUSE_Factory/ 2) Install the latest kernel-default package. Also, can you attach hwinfo.out after running the following as root: hwinfo > hwinfo.out Thanks. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
