[Bug 964357] New: lilypond-book/pdflatex: LaTeX Error: Environment lilypond undefined.
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=964357 Bug ID: 964357 Summary: lilypond-book/pdflatex: LaTeX Error: Environment lilypond undefined. Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: 13.2 Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: X11 Applications Assignee: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: Ulrich.Windl@rz.uni-regensburg.de QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- I've installed lilypond and texlive-context-lilypond-2013.84.svn23167-17.1.7.noarch. However when following the example in the documentation ("3.1 An example of a musicological document"), I get an error at the step where pdflatex is called: --- lilypond-book --output=out --pdf lilybook.lytex lilypond-book (GNU LilyPond) 2.18.2 Reading lilybook.lytex... …lots of stuff deleted… Compiling lilybook.tex... cd out pdflatex lilybook …lots of stuff deleted… xpdf lilybook (replace xpdf by your favorite PDF viewer) --- The error is "! LaTeX Error: Environment lilypond undefined." where there is \begin{lilypond}. The package contains only two files:
rpm -ql texlive-context-lilypond-2013.84.svn23167-17.1.7.noarch /usr/share/texmf/tex/context/third/lilypond/t-lilypond.tex /var/adm/update-scripts/texlive-context-lilypond-2013.84.svn23167-17.1.7-zypper
So it seems the package dos not work at all! Using "--format texi" (or "htmL" or "docbook") does not produce a texinfo file, but also a LaTeX file! Some further experiments showed that lilypond-book doe not replace \begin{lilypond}...\end\lilypond}pairs, but only source inluded by \lilypondfile. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

a) From where do you get "lilybook.lytex"?
Written myself, according to the example provided in the documentation (see below)
b) Which documentation are you referring to?
file:///usr/share/doc/packages/lilypond/Documentation/usage-big-page.html#an-example-of-a-musicological-document You can use any lilypond input file: If you place the contents inline, it doesn't work; if you include the contents, it works. For me it's a problem in lilypond not translating the inline content. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

--- Comment #8 from Ulrich Windl
Can you please attach "lilybook.lytex" to this bug.
I thought the instructions (that include a sample) are clear enough. Anyway, I'll attach an example. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

As I write in comment #6:
You can use any lilypond input file: If you place the contents inline, it doesn't work; if you include the contents, it works. (...)
Regarding the syntax errors: Everything inside the \begin{lilypond} ... \end{lilypond} block should not matter at this stage. So what's left is: @@ -1,7 +1,6 @@ % test \documentclass[a4paper]{article} -\usepackage{german} -\usepackage{a4} +\usepackage[utf8]{inputenc} % \begin{document} \begin{center} I wonder this is relevant. "Utf8" may be once the lilypond block is processed. The only thing I overlooked so far was this: -\end{lilypond\ +\end{lilypond} (I'll recheck and report (later)) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
