https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=869798 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=869798#c0 Summary: Could not login after install. The installer messed up on passwords. Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Factory Version: 13.2 Milestone 0 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 13.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: yast2-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: nrickert@ameritech.net QAContact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:27.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/27.0 I installed 13.2M0 from the DVD image (64bit). During the install, when prompted for a user, I asked it to import users from the previous system. It did that. On reboot, I could not login as any of the three imported users. I used CTRL-ALT-F1 to get to a command line, logged in as root, and changed the password of one of the users. That allowed me to login. On later checking the content of "/etc/shadow", the password data for the other two imported users had no relation to what should have been imported. Restoring the correct password data to "/etc/shadow" (from backups) allowed all three users to login normally. Neil, does /var/lib/YaST2/imported/userdata/ still exist for you?
No, that's not there (the "imported" directory is not there). Hmm, if it were there, then it would have been in the install logs tarball that I uploaded, and I would have thereby compromised security. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

No, it wouldn't, don't worry. I can reproduce the issue. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
