[Bug 242577] New: s2ram: backlight don't wakeup on Sony Vaio VGN-FS415S
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=242577 Summary: s2ram: backlight don't wakeup on Sony Vaio VGN-FS415S Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: florian.schaefer@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de s2ram don't work here on 10.2. On 10.1 it worked out of the box on this machine (at least with a forced suspend). Suspend to disk also works like expected. I tried several workarounds as described in "/usr/share/doc/packages/suspend/README.s2ram-whitelist": s2ram -f s2ram -f -a 1 s2ram -f -a 2 s2ram -f -a 3 s2ram -f -p -m s2ram -f -p -s s2ram -f -m s2ram -f -s s2ram -f -p s2ram -f -a 1 -m s2ram -f -a 1 -s All these workarounds tested on a minimalistic console session, started with "noapic init=/bin/bash" added to kernel params. The only problem seems to be: the backlight don't wakes up. Without the "noapic" also the keyboard freezes.

Are you saying that plain s2ram -f worked on 10.1? Did it also work on minimum system? (Maybe s2ram will work correctly from X even on 10.2?) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=242577 ------- Comment #2 from florian.schaefer@gmail.com 2007-02-07 03:04 MST ------- Yes, on 10.1 plain "s2ram -f" worked (from X, haven't tested minimal there). I will take the time to test it with varios workarounds and different NVIDIA drivers from X on 10.2. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=242577 ------- Comment #3 from seife@novell.com 2007-02-07 07:32 MST ------- I'd pretty much guess that it did not work without X with 10.1 also, so the tests from X would be interesting with 10.2. Basically, in the kernel suspend / console code, not much has changed that should be able to break this suspend to RAM case, this is why i'd expect it to be the same as in 10.1 -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=242577 ------- Comment #4 from florian.schaefer@gmail.com 2007-02-07 07:48 MST ------- I've tested various workarounds and NVIDIA drivers now with 10.2. Still no luck. The drivers I've tested: NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-8762-pkg1.run NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-9631-pkg1.run NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-9742-pkg1.run NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-9746-pkg1.run Also I tried this: http://en.opensuse.org/NVidia_Suspend_HOWTO I played a bit with vbetool (0.7-22@i586 from repos), that gives an error for POST option. Am I right, that s2ram uses this option with the -p argument?
vbetool post Floating point exception

If you can reproduce it without them, great, but this way it is RESOLVED/invalid. (There may be nvidia contact somewhere, complain to them). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
