[Bug 306305] New: Problems with scsi sysfs attributes
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=306305 Summary: Problems with scsi sysfs attributes Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Beta 2 Platform: i386 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: dkukawka@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- I have here a WesternDigital USB harddisk where HAL not detect the block device and the partitions of the disk. The reason is that some sysfs atributes are missing if HAL get the ADD event from UDEV. This are the missing attributes (added code to HAL to stat the files before read from them and the message from the stat call was: errno=2: No such file or directory): /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1d.7/usb5/5-2/5-2:1.0/host6/target6:0:0/6:0:0:0/model /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1d.7/usb5/5-2/5-2:1.0/host6/target6:0:0/6:0:0:0/vendor /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1d.7/usb5/5-2/5-2:1.0/host6/target6:0:0/6:0:0:0/type If I check the files some seconds later they are available and contain the correct values, so restart hal make HAL detect the device correctly. I think there is maybe a problem in the kernel or udev. IMO the device should first get announced if e.g. type (which contains the needed sysfs type of the device) is available in sysfs -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Set it to 5 and it will work. :) It's a SUSE kernel patch which sets it to 1. SLE has the default 5 seconds.
Doesn't help to set it to 5 tried also 10, but no change. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
