Suspend-on-lid-close worked only every other time yesterday and today. I suspected interaction with inhibit applet so I toggled it several times and retried. I closed the lid four times (and opened four times, of course). On the first and third closes, the machine goes to sleep. On the second and fourth, nothing happens. And more explanation about the state where suspend is not possible at all as normal user. When the system is in such state, I can't shutdown using the main menu shutdown button. The shutdown selection menu pops up and I can select it but nothing happens after that.
