It reports 4 hits, one of them being the same as the one it (and I) believes is my access point. The three others are known to me, one as being the 'default', which is not encrypted (belongs to a neighbour, and sometimes comes in handy), the other two being WEP and WPA encrypted and belong to other neighbours. To make absolutely certain I am not going crazy, I accessed the access point's ip address to look at the configuration. It *is* mine, same password. I then swiched the broadcast mode to disabled and, sure enough, I could no longer get on the Internet. I then used another wire connected machine to re-enable broadcast, and I could get through again, same (wrong MAC). This is the MAC for my access point: 00:14:BF:72:F9:BC It is written on the carton box it came in, and it has been reported correctly by earlier versions of OpenSuSE and Ubuntu. Windows Vista Ultimate also reports it correctly. I have previously used it with iwconfig.
