[Bug 309112] New: if "After the operation, 0.0B will be freed" be silent
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=309112 Summary: if "After the operation, 0.0B will be freed" be silent Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Beta 2 Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: libzypp AssignedTo: kkaempf@novell.com ReportedBy: crrodriguez@novell.com QAContact: kkaempf@novell.com Found By: Development while using zypper, when the update or install operation will not free space, the following additional info shows on screen "Overall download size: 15.6 M. After the operation, 0.0 B will be freed." similar to the case when "Overall download size: 0"(fixed , according to comments in other report) in this particular case if no space will be freed after the operation, the information displated is superflous. I expect that to read only: "Overall download size: 15.6 M." -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

One more case to split messages ;-) I *really* don't think it would look better with a line break:
Overall download size: 15.6 M. After the operation, 200.0 B will be freed. Continue? [yes/no] vs.: Overall download size: 15.6 M. After the operation, 200.0 B will be freed. Continue? [yes/no] The latter is IMO more readable/good looking. Too many short lines are not always good. Also, this particular case is more a matter of taste than a real issue. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

think?
"Rule of Silence: When a program has nothing surprising to say, it should say nothing." ;) (In reply to comment #3 from Ján Kupec)

<"No additional space will be used or freed after the operation.". What do you
think?
"Rule of Silence: When a program has nothing surprising to say, it should say nothing." ;)
That's a good rule (really :O), but i don't think it applies here. The information about the size of space to be used/freed upon installation/update/removal is useful even for ZERO, isn't it? If zypper would be silent about it, i (user) would be in doubt about the space occupation after the operation. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
