I tried different settings (see attached xorg.conf-xinerama-1024x1024 and xorg.conf-xinerama-1280x1024) How to reproduce: 1. kill all graphic programs like gdm, X etc. and log in as root on terminal 1 2. delete /etc/xorg.conf 3. start sax2 with -i option 4. sax2 detects a good resolution 5. activate Xinerama multihead option 6. Test it Results: My laptop display gets cloned but no Xinerama support. Solution: Use xrandr to set all monitor resolutions on Intel GMA950 cards. It's much better than all that old stuff. Have a look at my xorg.conf-works file. Most important part is the "virtual" option. At the moment due to a bad driver there is only a max resolution of 2048x2048 pixels. If you set it up to a higher resolution, 3D support gets lost. With this configuration I can activate an external monitor with: xrandr --output VGA --mode 1024x768_70.00 --below LVDS Explanation: mode: is a refresh line to get 70 Hz vertical with my external monitor below: I have to choose below because otherwise I do not have 3D support any more Please integrate xrandr in sax2. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Enable it with xrandr. I have called: sax2 -r -a - result is a single head config with one monitor reference (monitor-vga ...) sax2 - entered the GUI clicked on "Activate Dual Head Mode" and saved the configuration. The result is a xorg.conf with two references monitor-vga and monitor-LVDS This looks good to me so how can I reproduce this problem ? Stefan you said you could ?
