[Bug 675431] New: missing configuration for sound system to switch capture/input device
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=675431 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=675431#c0 Summary: missing configuration for sound system to switch capture/input device Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.4 Version: RC 2 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Sound AssignedTo: tiwai@novell.com ReportedBy: danielstefanmader@googlemail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:2.0b11) Gecko/20110203 Firefox/4.0b11 The previous (i.e. in 11.3) option in kmix to switch to another input device is now completely missing. Before, this setting was just annoying because it was not persistent but always changed back to the default Line-In device. However, the complete lack to be able to use e.g. the internal microphone in a laptop is definitely worse ;) Just a general remark: the new kmix application is horrible. To say the least. Is there a way to change these sound settings in a config file or with a utility such as alsamixer? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. line-in audio capture works out of the box 2. there is no configuration to change this to e.g. built-in microphone Actual Results: This is equivalent to a broken sound system as users need to plug an external microphone in order to use VoIP apps (skype, googletalk, twinkle, sip-communicator etc.) Expected Results: The mixer applet kmix should offer easy and intuitive checkboxes to switch playback and recording devices easily. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
