From talking to Bryen on IRC, this could be a Compiz problem. Everything else (GConf key, gnome-settings-daemon, etc.) seems to be working properly.

Only way for now to get it working with compiz is to set it globally via :

/etc/sysconfig/windowmanager:X_MOUSE_CURSOR="DMZ"
