[Bug 1014575] New: /dev/disk/by-id/ inconsistent between 42.1 and 42.2
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1014575 Bug ID: 1014575 Summary: /dev/disk/by-id/ inconsistent between 42.1 and 42.2 Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 42.2 Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Upgrade Problems Assignee: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: antoine.mechelynck@gmail.com QA Contact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- I have a USB key partitioned Linux-wise with an MSDOS partition table, a swap partition (type 82) and a data partition (type 83). Under Leap 42.1, it was accessible as /dev/disk/by-id/usb-General_USB_Flash_Disk_041002000003FC6B-0:0 and was called that way (plus -part1 and -part2) in my /etc/fstab. Under Leap 42.2, that ID is not recognized anymore and I must use /dev/disk/by-id/scsi-S__General_USB_Flash_Disk_1.00 (again, plus -part1 and -part2). Of course this discrepacy wreaked havoc with my fstab until I discovered it. /dev/sdb remained stable for the same "disk" but of course if I plug it into a different USB socket it might become sdc or sdd. (N.B. That swap partition is defined with low priority in fstab, against a possible overflow of the main swap partition on my hard drive.) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

This is now fixed in bug#1070431.
That is a restricted bug: «You are not authorized to access bug #1070431.» Well, I'll take your word that it is fixed — until or unless something nasty happens to me. ;-) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
