[Bug 330461] New: hidd not included in bluez-utils for connecting a bluetooth mouse
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=330461 Summary: hidd not included in bluez-utils for connecting a bluetooth mouse Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Mobile Devices AssignedTo: dgollub@novell.com ReportedBy: wberrier@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de CC: jpr@novell.com Found By: --- Thu May 10 15:45:07 CEST 2007 - dgollub@suse.de .. - disabled build of hidd I used this tool in 10.2 to connect my bluetooth mouse. There's even references in the help file: /usr/share/doc/packages/bluez-utils/README.keyboard+mouse about how to use hidd to connect input devices. Why was hidd disabled? Is there some other method I should be using? (Note, I'm using gnome so I'm not following the instructions using kinputwizard. But, GNOME:Community has an updated bluez-gnome 0.14 which seems to allow connecting to devices. Maybe we just update bluze-gnome?) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I'm successfully using gnome-bluez on 10.3 to configure and use a bluetooth mouse. That's the good news. The bad news is I still can't use it on 2 other 10.3 systems.
The interesting thing is that the 2 non-working systems are x86_64, and the 1 working system is i386.
I'm going try ubuntu x86_64 to see if it's something specific to suse.
That's interesting ... could you rerun the hcid more verbose on your 64bit systems: rcbluetooth stop hcid -d -n -x -s -f /etc/bluetooth/hcid.conf And run this commands as user: dbus-send --system --type=method_call --print-reply --dest=org.bluez \ /org/bluez org.bluez.Manager.ActivateService string:input Use the replied BUS ID in the next commands to setup the destination parameter (e.g. :X.Y.Z ) dbus-send --system --type=method_call --print-reply --dest=":X.Y.Z" \ /org/bluez/input org.bluez.input.Manager.CreateDevice string:$MAC_OF_MOUSE dbus-send --system --type=method_call --print-reply --dest=":X.Y.Z" \ /org/bluez/input/keyboard0 org.bluez.input.Device.Connect --- If those lines for work 32bit but still not on 64bit it looks like a problem in hcid (or bluez-libs). Seife & Tom, do you have similar experince with x86_64? (i don't have any x86_64 system) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Created an attachment (id=239549) --> (https://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=239549) [details] The blues error messages when connecting to bluetooth mouse on my openSUSE 11
openSUSE 11.what? 11.0? 11.1 alphaX? SLE11 alpha? Of course there is no obex server on your mouse. You cannot transfer files to it. ;-) Please follow the instructions on http://en.opensuse.org/Bluetooth/#Input_Devices or http://en.opensuse.org/Bluetooth/kinputwizard. Those worked for everyone who tried until now. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Please don't get me wrong (I just noticed, that the above sentence might suggest otherwise): of course there is still the possibility of a bug, or that the documentation is not complete, so if this does not work, please report back. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
