https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=487588 Summary: No sounds with initial configuration of Asus N80 notebook. Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: 32bit OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Sound AssignedTo: tiwai@novell.com ReportedBy: hayjeff@hotmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Created an attachment (id=281073) --> (https://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=281073) alsa-info.sh User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.0.7) Gecko/2009022800 SUSE/3.0.7-1.1.6 Firefox/3.0.7 Upon initial install of Opensuse 11.1 on Asus N80vc notebook the sound did not work. I followed a suggestion online and entered the line 'options snd-hda-intel enable=1 model=g50v position_fix=0' into /etc/modprobe.d/sound and this gave me sound on the speakers and muted the speakers when the headphones were inserted but sound only came from the headphones when they were halfway inserted. There was no sound when they were fully inserted. I found a solution to the problem after discussing it on the opensuse forum with the help of another user. The following entry in the /etc/modprobe.d/sound file give correct functionality. options snd-hda-intel model=m51va position_fix=0 options snd slots=snd-hda-intel # u1Nb.Xk_oFFgpZED:82801I (ICH9 Family) HD Audio Controller alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Problem results after initial install 2. 3. Actual Results: No sound Expected Results: Give sound on speakers and mute speakers with headphones inserted while giving sound on headphones. I attached the alsa-info.sh script output when I was having the problem. The entire solution is documented here on the opensuse forum here: http://forums.opensuse.org/hardware/410618-only-getting-sound-headphones-whe... -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
