Using Calibre 2.71. It used to work fine before, I don't know if it stopped working with a Calibre update or a library updated. Does it work with the official version from the website?
Yes v2.73 works (and if I'm not wrong the icons are different than the opensuse version).
I'll update calibre to the latest version, maybe that helps. At least it causes a rebuild. Calibre can be very picky about the software it is build against and running with.

Thew new version is now accepted in Factory. I assume the crash is solved now. If not, please reopen.
