This algorithm seems to be a bit too lax. I need to raise that issue again upstream apparently. One workaround solution for affected users is either - touch the install.rdf files of the installed extensions so they get a newer timestamp and Firefox will rescan them or - delete the extensions.* files in the profile (create a backup before since I haven't fully tested that yet!) Here is a similar upstream report I created. I'm wondering if those are more recent than your modification times of the extensions. The extension remains disabled - wrongfully. Firefox allows to have addons installed multiple times within different system locations and uses a certain order what to pull in. In your case /usr/lib/firefox/extensions had higher priority as /usr/share/mozilla.
