[Bug 984042] New: Kwin_X11; Kmail5 akonadi; amarok; mysql PCI IDE baloo5
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=984042 Bug ID: 984042 Summary: Kwin_X11; Kmail5 akonadi; amarok; mysql PCI IDE baloo5 Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 13.1 Version: Final Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: X11 Applications Assignee: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: jzimm0007@aol.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created attachment 680362 --> http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/attachment.cgi?id=680362&action=edit amaroks error message on startup 64 bit I figured I'd just report all the bugs I ran into that seem to be MYSQL in one: When I did an upgrade from 13.2 to Tumbleweed, because someone stole and swapped (so it seems) my DVD's since they won't burn in Tumbleweed due to the drive limitations detecting the DVD. It had a problem starting KWIN5 or KWIN and I got a mouse with a blank screen. This was on an older HP computer, but it was working fine until I had to do another distribution upgrade. Before this it was plasma5 and kwin crashing upon login but it appears suse has fixed this one to a point. I tried the different available desktop managers by utilizing yast software installation and it turned out doing a force install of KWIN5 actually just brought up and error saying KWIN5 had been deleted. It also tells me to switch screens and type in loginctl unlock-sessions. so then I tried the pam d config unix2 and pam a config unix method; I rebooted the machine and it still gave me that error that I needed to start the login screen or whatever that message meant. If you run loginctl by itself; it says no session is running anyways. I did that and then it wouldn't let me switch consoles back to number 7 that x should be running on; it stayed logged in as the root user on the wrong screen. Before I rebooted the machine and did the pamconfig stuff it actually got rid of the error message and replaced it with the ok bootup screen so that didn't help. This is on a MSI computer 7640 3.1 Kmail will not start with akonadictl start akonadictl start Starting Akonadi Server... done. Connecting to deprecated signal QDBusConnectionInterface::serviceOwnerChanged(QString,QString,QString) jzimmerman@linux-7asc:/tmp> QCommandLineParser: option not defined: "start-without-control" akonadiprivate_log: search paths: ("/home/[user]/bin", "/usr/local/bin", "/usr/bin", "/bin", "/usr/bin/X11", "/usr/games", "/usr/sbin", "/usr/local/sbin", "/usr/local/libexec", "/usr/libexec", "/opt/mysql/libexec", "/opt/local/lib/mysql5/bin", "/opt/mysql/sbin") Found mysql_install_db: "/usr/bin/mysql_install_db" Found mysqlcheck: "/usr/bin/mysqlcheck" Database process exited unexpectedly during initial connection! executable: "/usr/sbin/mysqld" arguments: ("--defaults-file=/home/[user]/.local/share/akonadi/mysql.conf", "--datadir=/home/[user]/.local/share/akonadi/db_data/", "--socket=/tmp/akonadi-[user].PgAUJK/mysql.socket") stdout: "" stderr: "Could not open required defaults file: /home/[user]/.local/share/akonadi/mysql.conf\nFatal error in defaults handling. Failed to remove Unix socket Failed to remove runtime connection config file Application 'akonadiserver' exited normally... MYSQL: I tried installing Mysql57 I think, but noticed mysqlrc18 was installed with kmail5. I ended up modifying /etc/my.cnf to point to the correct locations and then it said it couldn't open my.cnf. so when I had everything set to my user and the mysql group and I was part of the mysql group. I thought it should start, but what happened next is I ended up changing the ownership (Yes I learned to use chown finally) to mysql and the root group; still didn't start. I reinstalled the tables database. It said it couldn't find the errmsg.sys file when I pointed it directly to it (It literally said: Cannot find Can't find messagefile '/usr/share/mariadb/english/errmsg.sys but if you ls the directory; that's exactly where it is. I was having an issue with mysql.sock, but if you ls that directory where it looks; the file is there. If I do systemctl status [service] that's where I'm getting this information. I also backed up the directory and put it back after removing it since the mariadb reinstallation refused to reconfigure everything knowing that I already had MySQL57 installed before Installing Tables: mysql_install_db --user=mysql --no-defaults Installing MariaDB/MySQL system tables in '/var/lib/mysql' ... 160609 12:43:44 [Note] /usr/sbin/mysqld (mysqld 10.0.22-MariaDB) starting as process 10823 ... Problem finding message file in directory that it's actually at already (I moved it to both to make sure it worked properly): 160609 12:43:44 [ERROR] Can't find messagefile '/usr/share/mariadb/errmsg.sys' 160609 12:43:44 [ERROR] Aborting 160609 12:43:44 [Note] Even though I removed them; the tables shouldv'e been replaced with this tool right? Installation of system tables failed! Examine the logs in /var/lib/mysql for more information. Remember it couldn't even open the file with the correct permissions on it: The problem could be conflicting information in an external my.cnf files. You can ignore these by doing: shell> /usr/bin/scripts/mysql_install_db --defaults-file=~/.my.cnf Remember it says it can't find the message file: You can also try to start the mysqld daemon with: shell> /usr/sbin/mysqld --skip-grant --general-log & Cannot do anything with mysql until its started: and use the command line tool /usr/bin/mysql to connect to the mysql database and look at the grant tables: shell> /usr/bin/mysql -u root mysql mysql> show tables; Information logs in /var/lib/mysql that may be helpful. The latest information about mysql_install_db is available at https://mariadb.com/kb/en/installing-system-tables-mysql_install_db MariaDB is hosted on launchpad; You can find the latest source and email lists at http://launchpad.net/maria linux-7asc:/usr/share/mariadb/english # mysql ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/run/mysql/mysql.sock' (2 "No such file or directory") linux-7asc:/usr/share/mariadb/english # ls /run/mysql/mysql.sock /run/mysql/mysql.sock linux-7asc:/usr/share/mariadb/english # ./mysql/bin/mysqld --defaults-file=/etc/my.cnf --/var/lib/mysql/mysql/ --lc-messages-dir=/usr/share/mysql bash: ./mysql/bin/mysqld: No such file or directory linux-7asc:/usr/share/mariadb/english # mysqld --defaults-file=/etc/my.cnf --/var/lib/mysql/mysql/ --lc-messages-dir=/usr/share/mysql Could not open required defaults file: /etc/my.cnf Fatal error in defaults handling. Program aborted One time it told me the table innode was in the incorrect format as specified, but then I ended up taking all the options and commenting them out of the my.cnf to get past that. It was Barracuda so I thought about downgrading and changing the format, but didn't. PCI-IDE I have a pci-ide controller that gives a long string of numbers when starting up the computer that looks like it's trying to activate sata when they aren't even attached to the board. It's the little PCI that I never figured out what it was called; not express or the older style. I wrote it down, but because it repeats over and over as it boots up until the time for activating the service runs out; it is impossible almost since it fills the screen over and over again. No I didn't mean Mini-PCI I'm talking about the connector on the motherboard. Baloo5: As you know baloo5 exits with signal 11 every time I fix what it needs; it'll sporadically not work meaning that it will not index files and also when I'm in dolphin it won't search for files; it just shows up blank. The point of all this was to use KMAIL5 and amarok without getting as stupid error message that says in an attachement. Honestly I've tried so much I don't recall all of it. mysqld --defaults-file=/etc/my.cnf --/var/lib/mysql/mysql/ --lc-messages-dir=/usr/share/mysql -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
