[Bug 238694] New: evolution exchange connector doesn't connect to server
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=238694 Summary: evolution exchange connector doesn't connect to server Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: 32bit OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Evolution AssignedTo: kharish@novell.com ReportedBy: R.Escher@osram.de QAContact: anagappan@novell.com _Brief:_ Trying to create a mail account to an exchange 2003 server I get always the message: "Could not connect to server. Make sure the URL is correct and try again." _Version:_ Distribution: openSUSE 10.2 (i586) Gnome Release: 2.16.1 2006-11-28 (SUSE) _History:_ I used successfully evolution with SuSE (kde) since evo v. 2.2 to connect to our exchange server. After I did the upgrade installation from openSUSE 10.1 to 10.2 suddentliy evolution asked me for the password. I inserted it, but without success. _All attempts were to no avail:_ I deleted the pw (Menu -> File -> Forget Password): nothing. I did a search in the internet and installed pam-keyring, the default keyring is existing: nothing. I used gnome instead of kde: nothing. I changed the display manager from kde to gdm: nothing. I deleted the exchange e-mail account and created a new one of type exchange: nothing. I tried to insert values for Username and OWA URL in all variations (domain\username, username@realm, username alone; OWA URL copy&paste from a functoning(!) OWA session with firefox; I modified this URL (with trailing user-name, without trailing user-name); I also tried "Secure Password" and tried "Plaintext Password"; I would say I tried it in all ways, but every time the message I got was: "Could not connect to server. Make sure the URL is correct and try again." _Traces:_ To do some tracing, I created a new account with server type none; then I started evolution with CAMEL_VERBOSE_DEBUG=1 and E2K_DEBUG = 5. When I try to change the server type from None to M$ Exchange, I receive two new dialog groups "Configuration" and "Authentication Type". I tried to insert values for Username and OWA URL in all variations (domain\username, username@realm, username, OWA URL copy&paste from a functoning OWA session with firefox, modified this URL (with trailing user-name, without), tried Secure Password, tried Plaintext Password) I would say I tried it in all ways, but every time the message is: "Could not connect to server. Make sure the URL is correct and try again." _The trace (one example of many tests, see above):_ [...] (evolution-2.8:11324): e-utils-WARNING **: Cannot resolve symbol 'org_gnome_new_mail_config' in plugin '/opt/gnome/lib/evolution/2.8/plugins/liborg-gnome-new-mail-notify.so' (not exported?) We cannot install old evolution packages from 10.1 because evolution was once again compiled to look for specific library version numbers. So until someone at SuSE can take a look and try and fix this, we are without email connectivity. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

Is your username different from your mailbox name? Ex: username: E345623 mailbox name: lastname.firstname If so, OWA URL should be "https://foo.server.com/blah/lastname.firstname and username: domain\E345623 in case of FBA and E345623 for non-FBA accounts. Is your username different from your mailbox name?
Ex: username: E345623 mailbox name: lastname.firstname No, it's the same. And it worked for more than one year; it stopped working suddenly after upgrading from OpenSuse 10.1 to 10.2. Bye

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=238694 ------- Comment #5 from jrobiso2@ford.com 2007-02-27 06:49 MST ------- Same for me. I was running the following on 10.1 evolution-2.6.0-20060828.i586.rpm evolution-data-server-1.6.0-20060828.i586.rpm evolution-exchange-2.6.0-20060828.i586.rpm evolution-pilot-2.6.0-20060828.i586.rpm One of the developers gave these to me in order to "fix" the exchange connectivity problems I had in 10.1 (Mostly Calendar related lockups and crashes). They worked beautifully and he said that the changes would get into the main line. Maybe they did, maybe they didn't, but either way, 10.2 isn't working, and 10.1 was. I can't go backwards and install those rpm files because they were compiled against specific library versions (and sub-versions). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

Same for me. I was running the following on 10.1
evolution-2.6.0-20060828.i586.rpm evolution-data-server-1.6.0-20060828.i586.rpm evolution-exchange-2.6.0-20060828.i586.rpm evolution-pilot-2.6.0-20060828.i586.rpm

I was the one who provided those RPMs. We have included all those changes back to 10.2, however, let me work on it and update you guys with custom built 10.2 RPMs. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=238694 ------- Comment #7 from jrobiso2@ford.com 2007-02-27 07:14 MST ------- Well then, many thanks for all your previous efforts, and I hope your current efforts are just as fruitful. Those 10.1 rpms you made worked perfectly. Of course, this time its not so much a problem with a part of the connectivity as it is with ANY connectivity to exchange. Probably a completely different problem. Wish I could help, but I've never gotten around to C. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=238694 ------- Comment #8 from jrobiso2@ford.com 2007-03-22 09:27 MST ------- Any updates or progress on this? We're still stuck w/o Evolution, using web interfaces against an MS Exchange system which really only works right if you use IE, so having Evolution back would be a "really good thing" as Martha Stewart says. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=238694 ------- Comment #9 from jrobiso2@ford.com 2007-03-24 17:45 MST ------- Just installed evolution 2.8.2-5 from the updates server. Strangely, when I changed from imap to Exchange, entered my password, it worked. Then, when I later restarted the program, it no longer worked. Something different between when it first connected to exchange with the "new" information and when it started already in exchange mode? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
