[Bug 449570] New: /etc/cups/snmp.conf should be readable by user lp
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=449570 Summary: /etc/cups/snmp.conf should be readable by user lp Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Factory Platform: All OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Printing AssignedTo: kssingvo@novell.com ReportedBy: jsmeix@novell.com QAContact: jsmeix@novell.com Found By: Development Currently it is # ls -l /etc/cups/snmp.conf -rw-r----- 1 root root ... /etc/cups/snmp.conf This causes that no network printers can be autodetected (i.e. not shown in the "lpinfo -l -v" output) because running the snmp backend as user "lp" fails: ---------------------------------------------------------- root@host# su - lp lp@host$ /usr/lib/cups/backend/snmp DEBUG: No address specified and no Address line in /etc/cups/snmp.conf... ---------------------------------------------------------- After chown root:lp /etc/cups/snmp.conf it works and autodetected network printers appear in the "lpinfo -l -v" output. According to http://www.cups.org/documentation.php/doc-1.4/ref-snmp-conf.html there are no secrets in /etc/cups/snmp.conf so that I think it does not make sense to have its access permissions so restrictive. At least it seems not to make sense to have the snmp.conf access permissions more restrictive than those for cupsd.conf. Therefore I suggest to have in cups.spec: %config(noreplace) %attr(640,root,lp) %{_sysconfdir}/cups/snmp.conf -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
