Without changing anything, it works perfectly when I do kiwi --prepare /home/francis/kwliveCD-suse-10.3-kde ..... (the absolute path). The kwliveCD-suse-10.3-kde/config.xml isn't the same as the one you have, by the way. You somehow have installed the kwliveCD-suse-10.3-kde description here: /usr/share/kiwi/image/kwliveCD-suse-10.3-kde correct ? And additionally you have installed or maybe copied another image description with the same directory name here: /home/francis/kwliveCD-suse-10.3-kde correct ? If you now call kiwi and specify the image path _without_ an absolute path it will search for the description in its default path which is in /usr/share/kiwi/image. In your case it finds a description there but this description contains /mounts/machcd2/... and so on which can't work If you specify an absolute path kiwi of course uses the absolute path This is not a bug it's a feature :-)) If you call kiwi --list you get a list of images found in /usr/share/kiwi/image. My apologies. The only suggestion I have is that (if possible) to still have support for relative paths (because it's the shell, it's generally not anticipated that an absolute path would work while a relative one wouldn't). Perhaps you could just prioritise the relative path over the respective folders in /usr/share/kiwi/image? So i.e. kiwi --prepare some-config... ...if some-config isn't a relative path, then check /usr/share/kiwi/image and use one there if it exists.
