[Bug 752778] New: Unable to select preferred partition when using "expert partitioning"
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=752778 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=752778#c0 Summary: Unable to select preferred partition when using "expert partitioning" Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.2 Version: Milestone 1 Platform: 64bit OS/Version: openSUSE 12.2 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: michalng@gmail.com QAContact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:11.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/11.0 Iceweasel/11.0 Laptop currently consists of multiple partitions, specifically - sda6 (encrypted for debian) - sda7 (debian root) - sda8 (swap) - sda9 (encrypted for opensuse 12.1) - sda10 (opensuse root) Select "expert partitioning" during installation to - delete sda9 and sda10 - create new sda9 - selects root as sda9 - confirm Upon confirmation, partition manager reports that / will be installed on sda6, even though - I've selected sda9 - there is a blank partition sda9 (so even on if 'auto' mode, should have selected this) - irrespective that password is provided (or not) for sda6 during installation Tried that above for a couple to times (reboot). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Boots up Live USB of opensuse 12.2 2. Start installation process 3. Selects expert partitioning 4. Selects preferred partition to install root and confirm 5. openSUSE indicates that root will be installed onto a partition different from item 4 above. Actual Results: openSUSE indicates that root will be installed onto a partition different from the one manually selected. Expected Results: openSUSE installs root onto manually selected partition. To by-pass this 'problem', I boot into debian to delete sda9 and sda10 and re-created new sda9. openSUSE's 'expert partition' installation proceeded as usual. Unfortunately, I will not be reinstalling (and testing the installation process) openSUSE any time soon, as I am happily using openSUSE 12.2 now :D Thanks. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
