As I have got no other HP Compaq 6715s around I am not going to install Beta2 on it to figure out, what happens when installing with "nohz=off" and then booting without it. It's not a problem of the distro, it's a "built-in" problem with 2.6 kernels of all kinds of flavours.

I did file the bug report here because of my personal interest to get 11.0 out as the best possible product imaginable. And to give all you people a hint how one can make 11.0 work with the SB600 chipset. Either you say: it's kernel developers' job to fix it (then I do not understand why openSUSE does not use vanilla kernels at all) or you believe there should be some sort off automatic, semi-automatic or at least documented installation feature implementing the "nohz=off" switch for quite a few Dell, HP and other notebooks and also motherboards using this chipset which is easily detectable. BTW These are some main board manufacturers using the SB600 chipset in some of their products: ASUS, Abit, DFI, ECS, MSI ... you name it. All these mentioned products would not be "accessible" to 11.0 if we just pass the bug to bugzilla.kernel.org. "Almost" because with vanilla the system goes into black screen - no motion much later in the game, and this when X is started. I could use the system on runlevel 3 without "nohz=off" which wasn't possible with the latest openSUSE kernel where I would never reach a login prompt at all. So the SUSE kernel has worsened the situation compared to vanilla. "We do not seem to have any hardware here that has this problem" - I thought that's why you use a wide testing community. A list of all notebooks, mainboards and systems containing the SB600 would have quite a few pages. About 20% of new motherboards sold here in the street shops carry a version of SB600 now. As I said I could run vanilla WITHOUT "nohz=off" as a server without X if needed, but I cannot run a server without X using current opensuse factory kernel without "nohz=off". Therefore kernel people will most likely push back towards an xorg driver issue and I have no time for such ping-pong.
