https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=386709 Summary: x11-input-synaptics poll delay suggestion Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Factory Platform: All OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: X11 Applications AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: florian.schaefer@gmail.com QAContact: sndirsch@novell.com Found By: --- Created an attachment (id=212322) --> (https://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=212322) Patch introduces a commandline switch to modify the poll delay Description: syndaemon is a program that monitors keyboard activity and disables the touchpad when the keyboard is being used. Syndaemon is commonly used on laptop computers. Monitored with PowerTOP (http://www.lesswatts.org/projects/powertop/), syndaemon causing 45 wakeups a second because of a hardcoded 20 ms timer. This behavior significantly reduce battery life. Steps to reproduce: Run PowerTOP on a laptop computer running syndaemon. Proposed fix: Attached patch introduces a commandline switch to modify the poll delay. Running e.g. "synadmon -m 500" uses a 500 ms timer instead of the hardcoded 20 ms one, makes syndaemon disappear from PowerTOP, while still doing a accurate job. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
