[Bug 996841] New: Creating encrypted non-system partition hangs on boot
http://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=996841 Bug ID: 996841 Summary: Creating encrypted non-system partition hangs on boot Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel Assignee: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: emrecio@gmail.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created attachment 690500 --> http://bugzilla.suse.com/attachment.cgi?id=690500&action=edit hardware information file from dead laptop Everything was working just fine on the machine. I decided to take up 100gb of unused (unpartitioned) space and create a new partition, that's ext4, encrypted. I used yast to create this partition. Upon reboot, I get: [<<TIME>>] mei_wdt mei::<<UUID>>:02 Could not register event ret=-22 This happens every time and I am pretty much dead in the water. Details: - Dell Latitude E5470 (Sky-something board/processor) - I had yast mount it upon boot to its own path. - I only had BtrFS, I added Ext4 for this new partition only. - I had the same error with Leap42.1, but that may be because I enabled encryption every time I installed Leap42.1?? (In any case, I had other errors when I just did a straight install like random hanging: Bug #994222) - See the HWINFO file attached to this - I checked crypttab and fstab before I rebooted and confirmed that the new partition was there, and mount-at-boot - UEFI boot Notes: - Is it possible that yast didn't redo grub/kernel options for the crypt modules, ext4 modules even though no other partition was encrypted/ext4 except for this blank new one? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
