[Bug 863642] New: touchpad multitouch not working on Dell XPS12 9Q33
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=863642 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=863642#c0 Summary: touchpad multitouch not working on Dell XPS12 9Q33 Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Factory Version: 13.2 Milestone 0 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 13.1 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: suse@s-boehringer.org QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/31.0.1650.63 Safari/537.36 SUSE/31.0.1650.63 The touchpad works for mouse cursor control plus single tap click emulation. Scrolling with two fingers or emulating middle click with three fingers does not work. Changing parameters using the KDE "configure desktop" application does not have any effect on touchpad behavior. This bug is present in kernel of the day version 3.13.2-1.g7e6b5de-desktop and is a regression with respect to the stock opensuse 13.1 kernel which does not show the bug. Earlier versions of the kernel of the day showed same behavior. cat /var/log/messagse | grep synaptics shows psmouse serio1: synaptics: Unable to query device which is not present in the 13.1 kernel. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. boot the machine 2. use touchpad Actual Results: Tapping with two fingers has same effect as single tap (no right-click/scrolling behavior). Touchpad parameters within "configure desktop" without effect. Expected Results: Two finger taps produce right-click. Two finger drag initiates scrolling. Parameters of "configure desktop" do change touchpad behavior. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Is the workaround mentioned below effective on your machine, too? https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1265885/comments/21
The workaround restores touchpad functionality at the cost of completely disabling the touchscreen, which works perfectly otherwise The choice is therefore between reduced touchpad functionality (multitouch not working, speed not configurable, ...) and not having touchscreen functionality -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
