It seems that we were used to broken behavior of 11.0 installer. It looks like 11.0 installer does not leave VNC ports open, they are disabled by default. In fact, trying to enable those ports by clicking 'open' doesn't work. This in turn resulted in us not noticing this service. Now, in 11.1 it works as expected. However, when using runlevel 3, we did not get any display manager, just an empty session, which caused us a bit of a concern. Thank you for your assistance in this matter.
