[Bug 491929] New: domUs not working after update to 11.1 (no bridge found)
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=491929 Summary: domUs not working after update to 11.1 (no bridge found) Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Xen AssignedTo: cgriffin@novell.com ReportedBy: koenig@linux.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- today I did update my XEN server from 11.0 to 11.1 (plus patches/updates). with 11.1 none of my xen domains did start anymore ("... Could not find bridge, and none was specified"). after quite some testing and tracing I found the following hint in /etc/xen/xend-config.sxp : # SuSE users note: # On openSUSE >= 11.1 and SLES >= 11, networks should be configured using # native platform tool - YaST. vif-bridge and qemu-ifup can be used to # connect vifs to the YaST-managed networks. #(network-script network-bridge) (network-script ) at least for me that was quite non-obvious and I can't find any hint about that new "feature" in the release notes. is it just me, or isn't that really documented anywhere ? IMHO it's not that difficult to convert the old ifcfg-eth0 to a new ifcfg-br0 (at least if XEN is installed and used and if there are xemdomains installed....). if that's not possible I'd have liked to see a big red warning hing somewhere my my xen domains won't start up anymore :-( -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
