Please try the latest zypper (0.11.6) and if it still doesn't work, attach solver test case (zypper up --debug-solver).
Just to be shure what to do: The backport-repository is still on 0.11.4.2.1 On the "1-click-install"-site search for 10.3 I find your version 0.12.0.3.1 on zypp:svn/openSUSE_10.3 Thanks for a hint whether I should youse the latest from zypp:svn/openSUSE_10.3 or the suggested 0.11.6 from openSUSE:Factory/standard In any case: I plan to do this at next Friday evening (not at home this week) Thanks -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Now I have a long list of suppostedly needed pathces, even though the system is prettymuch up to date (checked with Yast2 Installation Summary and option "show pacages with status keep"
Note that zypper lu/up acts by default on patches, not packages. Nevertheless, with up-to-date packages, the patches should be satisfied most of the time. I don't know why the new 11.0 zypper does not like the 10.3 patches. This would need more investigation, but we should focus on new release primarily. Schubi, if you have some spare time, see if you can spot from the solver testcase why zypper thinks there are needed patches and yet no _packages_ are dragged in by the patches. If it requires more time to solve, close as WONTFIX. The concept of patches is completely different in 11.x (no atoms) So this cannot work anymore.
I propose to remove the back port opportunity http://software.opensuse.org/ymp/zypp:Backport/openSUSE_10.3/zypper.ymp I suppose other non-expert users like me would fall into the same pitfall. Btw., I managed to get back to the 10.3 zypper and Yast meanwhile....
