[Bug 540605] New: mozilla's about:license shows slightly wrong information
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=540605 Summary: mozilla's about:license shows slightly wrong information Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Factory Platform: All OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Firefox AssignedTo: jw@novell.com ReportedBy: wolfgang@rosenauer.org QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Third Party Developer/Partner Type about:license in Firefox and see: "Binaries of this product have been made available to you by the Mozilla Project under the Mozilla Public License. Know your rights." That's not exactly true for our builds. Does that need to be changed? What should it read? Similar thing in about:rights: "Firefox wird Ihnen unter den Bedingungen der Mozilla Public License zur Verfügung gestellt" In the past we didn't define that we ship under MPL. Not really sure what that would mean in the end. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Probably not important enough to take any action. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

This is also how Fedora handle it: http://pkgs.fedoraproject.org/gitweb/?p=firefox.git;a=blob_plain;f=firefox.s... License: MPLv1.1 or GPLv2+ or LGPLv2+ https://build.opensuse.org/package/view_file?file=MozillaFirefox.spec&package=MozillaFirefox&project=openSUSE:11.3&srcmd5=9b988c81bf976a7c946f25e2db59d50e License: GPLv2+ ; LGPLv2.1+ ; MPLv1.1+ Are you asking to change the text in the about:license field to reflect this, given that the binaries in question are not coming directly from Mozilla but from openSUSE? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

As far as I am aware we label our Firefox build as licensed under the triple license. This is also how Fedora handle it:
yes
Are you asking to change the text in the about:license field to reflect this, given that the binaries in question are not coming directly from Mozilla but from openSUSE?
I'm just asking if we should do anything from a legal perspective or if it's fine as it is. The about texts are suggesting that the binaries are from Mozilla and the license is MPL. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
