https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=245712 ------- Comment #3 from crispin@novell.com 2007-02-19 15:59 MST ------- I'm also hitting a time problem that may be related. Normally my laptop keeps reasonably good time, losing maybe 10 seconds a month. I do *not* run NTP, I just fix the time now and then. I've been running under the Xen for 10.2 kernel this afternoon, installing a SLES10 guest. While installing it, the clock lost about an hour over a period of two hours, a spectacular degradation of time keeping. Other interrupt-related issues are also very slow: -mouse tracking is slow and laggy, like running on an ancient CPU -key repeat is flaky, not really repeating at a predictable rate Guess: the Xen kernel for 10.2 is masking some interrupts it shouldn't, and is missing them. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

Last night I rebooted my machine with the Xen kernel, and this morning the time is correct. Previously I was running the default kernel. I think the problem lies in the default kernel (I thought it may be kernel related, as I noticed this after recent patches). The specific kernel: kernel-default-2.6.18.8-0.3 The one I am running now that appears OK. (uname -r) 2.6.18.8-0.3-xen I'll reboot again with the default kernel and confirm. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

Have been running an hour with no time loss on the default kernel. What I also did last night (shouldnt have made so many changes at once!), I ran an update and it updated "hal". Now I am not precisely sure exactly on the update unfortunately. Looking at updates I am having a hard time finding a recent update to hal, but I used zypper and it did uninstall some hal related stuff and then installed a "hal" package. My system is up to date. There has not been a hal update for a few months now.
At least I can't see one. I am subscribed to regular security updates. It looks
I am losing about a minute every hour or so...
