[Bug 283841] New: Network setup fails in step 1
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=283841 Summary: Network setup fails in step 1 Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Alpha 5 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: yast2-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: holgi@novell.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com CC: aj@novell.com I installed Build 402 via CD on x86_64 and was asked if I want to activate network. I selected "yes" and could choose which network card (of my two) I want to select. I selected the connected (2nd) but system was not able to ping a specified server. (Note: On console the network worked fine) So I should select if I want to change configuration or cancel. I choosed first option and got - with every step I wanted to do afterwards - the message that the configuration can't be saved. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

if I want to activate network
Lukas it's yours ;-) Holger: what about resolver? Could you ping via FQ domain name ("ping server.suse.de") and just "ping server" works? https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=283841 ------- Comment #4 from holgi@novell.com 2007-06-14 02:25 MST ------- "Problem" is: it's working now (no error message anymore). Maybe the pinged server is available now. Please check the problem with message "configuration cannot be saved". Because if there is such a problem I think we will run into that problems again. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

Running /sbin/dhcpcd 'eth1' returned $["exit":0, "stderr":"", "stdout":""] No HTTP proxy used Network test did: ----------------- Running /bin/ping -q -n -c1 novell.com returned $[ "exit":1, "stderr":"", "stdout":"PING novell.com (130.57.5.70) 56(84) bytes of data. --- novell.com ping statistics --- 1 packets transmitted, 0 received, 100% packet loss, time 0ms "] Result: ------- Your DHCP client got and IP address DNS Resolving works The only problem might be routing... It seems to be rather some problem in your network, please, try to reproduce it and then try these commands and paste here their result: `/sbin/ip addr show eth1` `/sbin/route` `cat /etc/resolv.conf` `/bin/ping -q -n -c1 novell.com` `/bin/ping -q -n -c10 novell.com` Thanks... -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

Servers: -------- - novell.com - opensuse.com - google.com In case of failed test, I'll try to gather all the information I can and write it to the log: - /sbin/ip addr show - /sbin/ip route show - cat /etc/resolv.conf What do you think of that, Holgi? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
