[Bug 909627] New: Emacs cannot enter PSGML mode
http://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=909627 Bug ID: 909627 Summary: Emacs cannot enter PSGML mode Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: 13.2 Hardware: x86-64 OS: openSUSE 13.2 Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: Other Assignee: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: ulrich.deiters@uni-koeln.de QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- When I start Emacs and then enter the SGML mode (command "M-x sgml-mode"), Emacs responds with the error message "sgml-mode: Symbol's function definition is void: make-local-hook". The problem exists also for openSUSE 13.1. An Emacs specialist informed me that the psgml package in current Linux distribution is outdated. A working version can be configured into Emacs by uninstalling the "official" psgml, then giving the commands M-: (add-to-list 'package-archives '("marmalade" . "http://marmalade-repo.org/packages/")) M-x package-refresh-contents M-x list-packages and selecting "psgml" in the package list for installation. It worked for me. But it would be nicer to have a working psgml in the Linux distribution. If someone wonders about using the ancient SGML: With the psgml package, Emacs becomes an excellent XML editor. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
