[Bug 956728] New: Boot menu did not pick up Windows 10
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=956728 Bug ID: 956728 Summary: Boot menu did not pick up Windows 10 Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 42.1 Hardware: x86-64 OS: openSUSE 42.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Upgrade Problems Assignee: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: bill@oldmillfarm.com QA Contact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- I added an ssd to speed things up and left the old hdd intact. When my boot menu comes up, I can boot to either drive. The ssd has Leap 42.1 and Windows 7. The hdd has 13.2 and Windows 10. The boot menu shows both windows installs to be Win 7. How can I change the boot menu to relabel one of them Windows 10? I don't want to change anything about the configuration, just the label that appears on the screen so that I don't confuse myself. Using the forums, I was told the install has support for Windows 10 and grub should have picked it up. That is why I file this report. If I could get an answer to my original question, it would be greatly appreciated. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

I guess the entries are autodetected by grub2-probe
It's os-prober that does it. Factory os-prober has code to check for Windows 10. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Hi Prexy,
BCD file is in your Windows partition, you have to mount to access it.
Or look in Windows :) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Created attachment 657475 [details] Windows BCD file
Please paste output of "rpm -qi os-prober". Your BCD file does contain "Windows 10" string so it should match. Also please try (adjust path to BCD file as needed) grep -qas "W.i.n.d.o.w.s. .1.0" /path/to/Boot/BCD echo $? What is displayed (0 or 1)? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

THAT worked! I got some grief from zypper over signatures, but I said "ignore" and all worked. Thanks! -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
