[Bug 751671] New: "iSCSI Initiator Discovery" fails
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=751671 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=751671#c0 Summary: "iSCSI Initiator Discovery" fails Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.1 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: dfreeman@ieee.org QAContact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:10.0.2) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/10.0.2 I have never used iSCSI before, so this is my first attempt. I am setting up the initiator, and I'm not sure whether the target is correctly configured. Both are running openSUSE 12.1. The initiator is x86-64, the target is i686. Under YaST2 (GTK version), I am at the screen "iSCSI Initiator Discovery". I have entered the correct IP address, left the default port number, and checked "no authentication". I clicked "Next". I got a pop-up with the error message: "YaST2" "Error" "iscsiadm: Could not read fw values." This error is completely worthless to me. It provides no clue as to what is wrong or how to correct it. Do I have missing packages? Is there a problem with the target or the network configuration? I have no idea. This is not how a first-time attempt at iSCSI should end. The same error appears each time I click "Next", and also if I close the tool and try it again. I consider that save_y2logs produces far too much information.
You could try to add only /var/log/YaST2/y2log* files, not whole save_y2logs output. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

From the log I do see that the command
iscsiadm -m discovery -P 1 -t st -I default -p 192.168.12.1:3260 does not return anything, so there server 192.168.12.1 seems not to export any iscsi disks to this client. The above command seems itself looks ok. Simply type the above command on the command line and see if there is anything useful. If there is any output of this command, please post it here. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Yes, as part of bnc#869567, we are fixing the ommision of the new iscsiuio package from SLES 12.
I will attach a TEST SLE 12 x86-64 version of the iscsiuio RPM, if one is needed for testing.
On second thought, no need to attach the RPM -- see bnc#869567, which has said RPM attached. Siddharth, can you try with said RPM installed? If that is your only issue, we can close this bug as a duplicate. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

The rpms Lee had attached in the BZ mentioned do work. If it has made it to the Beta 4 this can be closed/resolved as a duplicTe
Sorry the emails went to my junk folder hence the late reply
