[Bug 306290] New: Distro online repo defined at multiple places
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=306290 Summary: Distro online repo defined at multiple places Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Beta 2 Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: cthiel@novell.com ReportedBy: adrian@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de CC: mls@novell.com, ro@novell.com, benji.weber@gmail.com Found By: --- We do currently define the 10.3 installation repo in the content file and via the YaST extra repository handler. We also define different URLs for them atm. The different URLs leads to the situation that they can get added multiple times, which leads to other problems. It can also happen that the on line repo gets added, but disabled (when installing without in off-line mode). In that case it will not get activated when installation software with the 1-click mechanism, which will lead to dependency problems. I would like to recommend to remove the main 10.3 OSS repo URL from the content file at all. It will get added if the user either does install on on-line mode or when the user does install something via the 1-click mechanism. Otherwise we need at least use the same URL in both places. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Let's make sure to use the same URL in both places. IMO it makes much sense to make sure the user gets the URL set correctly, even if s/he doesn't install while being online.
At the moment this would cause the YMP install to fail, because the repositories would be detected as being there but as they are disabled the install would fail. I could fix this in the metapackage handler to check whether they are enabled and enable them if not. I'm not sure that having the repositories added but disabled is actually helping the user much any more though, now we have the community repositories yast module with the list of repositories to add. If the repositories are added but disabled they have to find them and then find how to enable it. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
