[Bug 360439] New: Open Office Impress animation speed slow, and very variable
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=360439 Summary: Open Office Impress animation speed slow, and very variable Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: i586 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: OpenOffice.org AssignedTo: eward@novell.com ReportedBy: richardn10@googlemail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Customer Open Office Impress animation speed slow, and very variable: Am trying the following animations: * appear, checker-board * motion path, curve * entrance, bounce Animation speed settings tried: very fast, fast, medium, slow All of the animations in practice usually execute very slow, though sometimes significantly faster than others. The speed of the animation is also unpredictable. Animation speed of same presentation with OpenOffice 2.3 in Windows is acceptable (not slow), though it crashed the PC the second time I ran the presentation. Animation speed with Sun's OpenOffice 2.3 on openSUSE 10.3 is very slow, and crashed at same point as the presentation running in Windows (above paragraph) I am hoping to solve this problem as I am trying to promote Linux and OpenOffice to the Indian Government next week, using a presentation I will run on OpenSUSE 10.3, with OpenOffice. I would like the presentation to be flashy! I just want to get Novell's version of openoffice running at a reasonable and predictable speed. I tried running as a PPT (so images are part of same file). Also tried saving as a .odp file, and it gave the same problem. I can send the presentation if that would help, but I tried the same animation with a simple presentation using a 20kb jpeg in a presentation with just the single image on a page, doing a curve motion path. This was also v slow (was using Sun's openoffice 2.3 - Novell's openoffice had been uninstalled). My PC: Lenovo, intel centrino duo, 1.5GB RAM - so power no issue. Using ATI, but I believe the graphics driver is set up correctly.
