[Bug 249153] New: statd: server localhost not responding, timed out
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=249153 Summary: statd: server localhost not responding, timed out Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Alpha 1 Platform: IA64 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: edwardsg@sgi.com QAContact: qa@suse.de I upgraded my ia64 box to current factory bits, and now have problems with NFS locking with apps like mutt. I see the following in dmesg: statd: server localhost not responding, timed out lockd: cannot monitor estes lockd: failed to monitor estes statd: server localhost not responding, timed out lockd: cannot monitor estes lockd: failed to monitor estes Doesn't look like nfs-utils provides rpc.statd. The NFS server is a SLES9 SP3 box running 2.6.5-7.283 kernel. If I boot a kernel from around the 10.2 release time (2.6.18.5-3), I don't see the problem. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

Previous SuSE released had statd in the kernel, but it is not clear if we are going to continue with this, or go back to the user-space statd. I'll try to get this sorted out and get back to you. Thanks for the report. https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=249153 ------- Comment #5 from mhopf@novell.com 2007-04-05 03:35 MST ------- Correction. Not fixed. It's the same as before, it works for me with loki, but not at home with SLES10. Sorry for the fuzz. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

All our boxes hang at startup, probably when trying to lock a file in ~/.kde. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
