Summary: BCM5704 nic lockup with tg3 driver
Product: openSUSE 10.3
Version: Final
Platform: i686
OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3
Status: NEW
Severity: Major
Priority: P5 - None
Component: Kernel
AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com
ReportedBy: leo@nwfactory.net
QAContact: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com
Found By: Customer
I encounter network lockups on a machine that has the BCM5704 dual port nic
(onboard).
When a lockup occurs the machine is no longer reachable and visible on the
(internal) network.
However it only happens on 1 NIC (eth1 - internal network), the problems never
seems to occur on the other NIC (eth0 - internet)
A simple ifdown eth1 && ifup eth1 fix it. It does not always happen on the same
moment but still rather frequently (sometimes 2-3times a day)
The machine is acting as a server for a LTSP (Linux Terminal Server) solution
so the internal nic does more traffic then the external nic.
